Undercover:

Leaked minutes from Twitter strategy meetings have revealed that Diddy has a higher opinion of his value to Twitter than Twitter does. However, they are still prepared to throw him some shares to keep him happy. Yes, Twitter does have a “pay for play” policy for certain celebrities it seems.

According to the minutes, Twitter has put aside what they call “adviser shares” to keep its famous posters happy and stay talking about the tech company.

Tech Crunch:

Another thing that comes through from the notes is just how much everyone has been courting Twitter. The agenda topics for a Twitter management meeting on April 16, 2009 reads like a who’s who of Hollywood and Silicon Valley: Diddy, Oprah, Marissa Mayer, Microsoft, 4Chan. They discuss giving “advisor shares” to entertainer Diddy, a big Tweeter, but also see him as a distraction. “Diddy values his contribution higher than we do,” read the meeting minutes. In an earlier meeting on April 2, other potential advisors discussed included Shaq and Al Gore (presumably both would receive advisor shares as well).

I read the original story about this, it's all bullshit...how can anyone make a proper interpretation of these documents when they are all scattered and out of context. Diddy is an entertainer, as an entertainer he has an obvious obligation to keep in touch with his fan-base...being an entrepreneurial genius, of course he is going to take advantage of a social networking platform such as twitter.

Corey i completely agree with you! Besides, they read like they were written by a bunch of idiots! Twitter needs to realize Diddy's contributions to them have been invaluable! I really enjoy reading Diddy's tweets and i think he is one of the only celebs that is still relevant on twitter.
