Chicago Tribune:

The Killers and Tool are expected to fill out the headlining slots for the fifth annual Lollapalooza festival Aug. 7–9 in Grant Park.

Multiple industry sources confirmed over the weekend at the South by Southwest Music Conference in Austin, Texas, that the two bands will join headliners previously reported by the Tribune: the Beastie Boys, Depeche Mode and Jane’s Addiction, plus Kings of Leon.

The Decemberists are also expected to play Lollapalooza, though it’s unclear if they will be able to perform their new concept album, “The Hazards of Love,” in its entirety with additional singers as they did at South by Southwest

Sun Times:

But industry sources cornered at SXSW have added another exciting name to the list: Lou Reed.

The venerated godfather of punk has been performing his classic 1973 concept album “Berlin” in select cities, but he’s yet to stop in Chicago. It’s unclear whether he’ll be playing that piece at Lollapalooza or a plain old Lou Reed set, but either way, it should be a treat.

Also said to be joining the roster, whenever Austin, TX-based promoters C3 Presents choose to announce it: alternative-country chanteuse and former Chicagoan Neko Case and the Windy City’s devoted pop eccentric Andrew Bird.
